Location: Forest Campus (West Knoxville)
Full-Time; Hours: 7:15 AM – 3:15 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, excluding holidays/breaks
Age Group: 3 years – kindergarten
Pay Range: $20,363.48 – $26,472.52 (based on experience)
Classroom
- Attend school functions for appropriate class
- Help maintain arrival and dismissal logs
- Supervise naps (when scheduled)
- Supervise the playground (when scheduled)
- Help set up lunch
- Supervise and assist children in use of the bathroom
- Help lunch clean up when scheduled
- Help maintain classroom atmosphere
- Help restock classroom supplies
- Report any missing pieces or broken apparatus to Lead Guide
- Other duties as assigned
- Work shift hours as assigned
Safety
- Be responsible for safety and physical well-being of children at all times
- Never leave children unattended
- Follow Director’s guidelines for storage of toxic materials
- Report all accidents and injuries to the Lead Guide
Administrative
- Be directly accountable to the Lead Guide and Director
- Follow school policies and TN DOE Standards
- Attend all staff meetings
- Help orient Assistant Guides to their responsibilities in the classroom
- Inform Director of parent complaints/concerns
- Report unusual behavior or possible abuse to Director
- Request the presence of the Director whenever dealing with an upset parent
- Obtain 30 hours of in-service training yearly (If the in-service training provided by the Director is not attended, it becomes the sole responsibility of the teacher to arrange for in-service training at no cost to the school.)
- Provide monthly documentation of in-service training to the Business Manager
- Participate in annual performance evaluation
Housekeeping
- Maintain classroom atmosphere
- Wash dishes when/if assigned
- Help maintain sanitary bathrooms when necessary by flushing, picking up tissues and trash, wiping seats, maintain clean floor, and restocking toilet paper, towels, soap
- Help maintain sanitary and neat environment by sweeping, dusting, and mopping when necessary

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 21 years or older (TN DOE Standard Requirement)
- Background screening prior to employment and as dictated by TN DOE
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to lift children safely
- Prior professional experience with this age group in a daycare/school setting
- Willingness to learn Montessori pedagogy
